What a Great Year!

Well, I have had an amazing year! I turned 14 and started high school. I got to be home schooled! (a BIG one!) That is only one way God has blessed me! Tennessee had a better year and made it to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in which they are playing tonight! (go vols!!!)My two favorite family things we did this year:
1) Go to the Davidson River and tube twice (August)
2) Went to Dollywood! (September)
Mom and I had a brunch for widows at our church. They really appreciated that and I enjoyed serving. Homeschooling has many benefits for myself and others. I enjoyed helping with Operation Christmas Child in Charlotte on December 10. I cannot wait to do that next year! I had a really gooooood Christmas too! Well, I hope that everyone had a wonderful year and that everybody has a Happy New Year!! :)

Merry Christmas!!

I just wanted to say Merry CHRISTmas to everybody! Yesterday we went to see the Ownbey grandparents. We were going to see them Saturday but after all of the snow, it wasn't really possible. Tomorrow we are going to see the Burke grandparents. Maybe they will still have some snow! :) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Tennessee Football!!

I am SO happy about how well (overall) Tennessee has been this football season. Close game against Kentucky. Good turn out! I am happy to announce they will be going to a bowl game this year, just not sure which. Overall, nice season vols! It may have been the different coach, Lane Kiffin, maybe not. I am proud- to be- a Tennessee Vol! Good ol' Rocky Top!!!! Hopefully we'll have a good bowl game. Good job Montario Hardesty and Eric Berry!! (top 2) Merry Christmas! :)

Oh yes, the Rabid Bunnies! Elizabeth, Holly, and I were on a team together and had a blast! Best birthday party ever!!! :) I can't wait to see my grandparents this week and had an amazing time with my other grandparents last week! Well, I should probably go! Happy Thanksgiving and drive carefully! :)

Our Trip to NGU

Last week, Brett, Mom, Dad, and I went took a trip to North Greenville University. Mom really wanted to go leaf-looking before the leaves fall. It was very pretty out that way and I enjoyed getting to look at a college I may want to go to. Everywhere we went there was a church at least every mile. No need for the college students to worry about finding one. After we went out there, we ate at a place that I forget the name of, but the food was really good! Right behind the restaurant there was a biking trail called the Swamp Rabbit Trail. It takes you from Travelers Rest about 12 miles and then into Greenville. It was really cool and maybe sometime we will get to go do that. Here are some photos from the Trip taking at a historical covered-bridge. (I forgot the name of that too) :)

Sooo......

I haven't updated in a while, obviously. There just hasn't been a whole lot going on other than school. For those who don't know, I am now hOmEsChOoLeD!! So Happy!!! :) So is Brett. I never thought this would happen, and even if it did happen, not this soon. We are using the Switched-On-Schoolhouse cirriculum. (For some reason I can't spell that!) I am very excited! I miss my friends at school, but I feel like I am using my life more productively and not wasting 40 hours sitting in a classroom everyday. I will admit that the Spanish 2 is a bit harder than I thought it would be. All quarter at GTCHS it was pretty easy. This is not.
Well, basketball season is coming up soon and I can't wait! Finally get to be on a high school team!! :) I just love this weather too! I really don't want the rain to come this weekend but I am sure we need it. Well, I should probably go. Hopefully something will come up soon (pictures included!). Until then, bye! :)

IT's Football Time in Tennessee!! :)

Tennessee is playing Western Kentucky today!! Just thought I'd add a little update and some pics from previous seasons. GO VOLS!!! :)

A Little Update

I know it's been a while since I have updated my blog, so I'll tell you what's been going on. I started school on August 10th. I can't believe that I am about to start my fourth week of school already! Greenville Tech a good school and I like it there, but I'm already wishing for a break! Within the four weeks I have been there, I have already had 2 quizzes in math, 2 in Spanish, 1 test in science, 2 quizzes in English, 2 projects due Monday and Tuesday, and a quarterly reading project due in October. I am a little overwhelmed to have just started school, but hopefully I'll adjust real soon!
For my reading project, I am reading Deadline by Randy Alcorn. I have only read the first chapter since I got it yesterday afternoon, but it is a great book! This is one (Elizabeth, Rebekah, & Sarah) that I definitely plan to finish! LOL!!
Gym is pretty fun. We go to the YMCA everyday because we don't have a gym. We have been playing baseball and kickball. I was hoping we might do basketball, but I don't see that happening.
Well, I hope that everybody's school year is starting off good! Have a great weekend!! :)

Happy 10th Birthday, Luke!!

Rebekah's Party!! :)

Last weekend Hannah, Luke and I went to Rebekah's 15th birthday party. We had so much fun watching lots of movies and staying up late! We got to spend the night 2 nights. The cake that Rebekah made was delicious! The left over icing was very good too!! :)

Me and Sarah having fun before the party!
All the girls at dinner: Abby, Becka, Elizabeth, Sarah, Me, Hannah, Holly, Olivia, and the Birthday Girl in the mirror (how nice to take the picture!).
And the DeLiCiOuS cAkE!!

Trip to Tazewall

Last week was amazing! Hannah, Brett, and I went to Tazewall, Virginia with our youth group. A lot more people showed up than I thought, only a little less than Mini World Changers. We stayed at Bluefield College and I roomed with my friend Amanda.
On Thursday (we left Wednesday), Brett and I painted the inside of a school building. We got put on the same team. It was kinda embarrassing though, because I kept spilling paint on the floor. But using the paint roller was fun. On Friday, I got up at 5:00 to go make breakfast for all the students. I stirred grits for 1 1/2 hours straight! We painted again and then in the afternoon we had a free car wash. I have always wanted to stand on the side of the road and scream, "FREE CAR WASH STRAIGHT AHEAD AT ADVANCED AUTO PARTS!!!!" while watching the ignoring faces drive past me, trying to avoid reading the signs everyone held. Yeah, definitely fun. Then on Saturday I got up and made breakfast again. We clean up a lot. I was constantly washing dishes from the food being made. Yeah, I washed dishes while Hannah baked cakes. Fair? Just kidding, the dishes hardly had anything on them. Anyway, it was a long drive home because of all the traffic and my ipod was almost dead! Horrifying, right? Just kidding.
It was an AWESOME trip! I really hope they do something like that again next year. Well, Rebekah's party is only about 1 day away! I can't wait!!! Haven't seem them since spring break! That is WAY too long to be separated from your best friends!! :)
Hopefully I'll have some good pics to update!! Until then, bye! :D

Happy 15th Birthday, Rebekah!!

What to Post?!?

Okay, so I have NO idea why I am even on here with nothing to post about! I guess I feel that I just need an update. I'll try not to bore you to death... maybe. ;)
So, there is only one day left of school! I am skipping school tomorrow. All of my friends are going on a rafting trip with my science class, but I have an orthodontist appointment and a GTCHS meeting. I am SO happy summer is almost here! But I'm really gonna miss all of my friends who aren't going to GTCHS. Well, time for dinner. Maybe something will happen that I can post about later! Until then, bye! :)

Washington, DC Trip!

I had a terrific trip to DC last week!! I went to the Pentagon, Washington Monument, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorial, the Capitol (and saw John McCain 20 feet away for me), Arlington Cemetery, the outside of the White House, and the Holocaust Museum. Washington Monument--really big! 500 ft. tall!! And I had to go on an ELEVATOR!!
Me in front of the White House. Yea, that's my house!
The amazing Library of Congress that doesn't let you in the Library part unless you're 16 and have a library card. But it was so amazing and really reminded me of National Treasure. Too bad there isn't really a book for the Presidents. The Capitol also reminded me of National Treasure.

Washington was amazing and I wish my computer wasn't so slow or else I would upload every photo I took! lol! It's nice to be back home though, just not school. I'll post later!

My Crazy Week

This week is probably gonna be one of my hardest weeks of school yet! I have so many projects, tests, and quizzes approaching because it is the end of the school year. YAY!! This week I have:

  • Wednesday- Archery Test
  • Thursday- Science Test, Spanish Test, and Vocab quiz
  • May 7- Proven Leadership Study due
  • May 18- Math Project due
  • May 28- English Project due
  • June 4- Last Day~~ I think
That may not seem like a lot, but I will be gone next week on a school field trip to Washington, D.C.! I can't wait!!!!!!! Hopefully I will have more to say about that when I get back and maybe a few good pictures. Don't expect anymore blog post until May 5 or 6. Got to go to school.

4.11.2009

Happy 12th Birthday, Hannah!!!

Happy Birthday, Hannah! I hope your day is wonderful!! :D

Mini World Changers

Last weekend Hannah and I went to Summerville,SC (near Charleston) with our youth group. We went to Mini World Changers which is where about 7-10 churches come and stay at a church and do service to the community. We even had to sleep in the church--not so comfortable! In my group, there were only 3 people from my church, including me! Hannah and I painted a house deep in the woods and and rake the never-ending pile of leaves! One thing that was really neat was that the people we worked for had lived in their little house in the woods since 1981. In their back shed, they had Coca-Cola and Pepsi bottle from the 80s! They let us keep them and so now there is one on our kitchen counter (which is probably notwhere it is supposed to be...)
After coming back from MWC, I was REALLYtired! At school the next day, math was really boring...as usual. I didn't realize how long I had shut my eyes until my math teacher pointed it out to the whole class (just a little embarrassing)! I had SO many projects, quizzes, and tests this week, nice way to start back school right:
-2 Math tests, Spanish test, and Social Studies test.
-Vocab quiz and
-1 project in English and in leadership (the most pointless class in the WORLD. Don't take it unless your forced!!)
It may not seem like a lot, but it is! But SpRiNg BrEaK is just around the corner!! About 1-2 more weeks!! Woo-Hoo!!
Well, I'll post back soon!

3.03.2009

**Lots of Snow!!**

Like I said in my previous post, it snowed a lot at our house!

We played in the snow yesterday and today. Of course, the second day snow is never as good as the first. But, hey, at least we had a lot the first day and we got two days off from school and most likely a two hour delay tomorrow! Thank you, Jesus, for a break!! :D

3.02.2009

What? NO BO-BERRY!?!

After it began to snow heavy, Dad wanted some coffee and donuts. We went to Dunkin' Donuts and they were out of the good stuff. Then we went to Bi-Lo in their bakery and they didn't have a whole lot. Last, we went to Bojangles to see if they had any Bo-Berry Biscuts--delicious! They wouldn't have any for about 15 minutes.

Hannah, Luke, and I were very upset! Dad went back to Bi-Lo and got cinnamon rolls! Yummy! Enjoy the snow those of you who have it!

3.01.2009

Woo-Hoo!!

I am so happy that it is snowing!! Yes, suddenly this morning, it was raining really hard and all of that rain has turned into snow! I am so happy because, even though we live in Greenville, SC, it can still snow! I thought that we wouldn't see any this year. Guess I was wrong! Well, thankfully I was wrong. I'll update pictures later of us in the car trying to find something warm to eat! :d Hope your getting the same!!

2.14.2009

Winter Jam '09!!

Last night we went to Winter Jam with the Pirkle's. The artists playing were TobyMac, Stephanie Smith, Brandon Heath, Hawk Nelson, pureNRG, and Francesca Battistelli. It was so much fun!!! I really enjoyed going and hope to do it next year!

Long Week...

So, it has been a really long week. I had three tests and two or three quizzes. To some, that may not seem like very much. But to me, that PLUS a ton of homework each night is quite a lot! On Tuesday afternoon, I got in the car from school. I would normally see Luke in the car with Dad. Hannah and I kept asking Dad where he was (because Mom was at work, so he couldn't have been with her) and I discover that he is at my grandparents house in NC and will be there until Friday afternoon, PLAYING IN 4-8 INCHES OF SNOW!!! I was very jealous... and I still am. Well, I will hopefully update more soon. ;) We are going to Winter Jam at the Bi-Lo Center Friday night and I cannot WAIT!! :D ( I haven't been before--well, to any concert at all).

1.31.2009

Fun in the SNOW!!

On Monday, January 12, we went to my grandparents house in Clyde, NC. We were out of school that day for some reason and we really wanted to go see some snow. This is Luke when we first came outside.... it was *ccooollllddd!!*
Then the snow really started coming down! Big Flakes!! I can't tell you how many times we went in and out of the house. Too many. I didn't want to waste my energy on the wimpy flakes... and it got a little cold.
It didn't snow enough to cover the ground, but it was fun!! :)

1.23.2009

Sorry it has been a while..

So, I know that I haven't updated my blog for a while. I wouldn't say that school is very crazy-but I have had tests and quizzes. I have 2 projects coming up soon
1. Leadership- I have to find someone to interview that has impacted the community, but I cannot be RELATED to them or KNOW them. Kind of crazy
2. Science fair.... oh, I am SO happy I only have to do this one year! Mom and I are doing a project to see which hand sanitizer- Germ-X, Purell, or Bath&Body Works- will kill more germs.
Well, I will update my blog with pictures very soon. Even though I got a digital camera for Christmas, I have only taken pictures of me and my friends at school. So, see Facebook for those photos. But we went to my grandparents house Saturday, where it was SNOWING, so I will update pictures from that soon!

Christmas at the Ownbey's

This past Saturday, we went to my grandparents house in Winston-Salem, NC. We received many wonderful gifts.

I love the look on Brett's face in this one! He has been wanting Pumas for a while.
Luke got a ton of Legos. On Christmas, he built his whole Lego set before the end of the day! He really enjoys building.
Hannah, Brett, and I got $25 iTunes gift cards. About $22 on mine now. We had a wonderful Christmas!! :D

12.30.2008

Christmas!!

We had a wonderful Christmas. Every year, Hannah, Brett, Luke, and I draw each others names and whoever we get, we buy a present for. This year I got Luke. In one way, he is a hard person to buy for. I bought his present a couple of days before Christmas. I got him pro-football cards and a miniature Nutcracker =$4.

I was so happy with all of my wonderful Christmas presents. I was really surprised, though, to open up a DIGITAL CAMERA! I have been using it like crazy.

Everyone bought nice things for each other this year. Sorry for not having updated my blog with pictures for a while. Happy New Year!

12.24.2008

Merry CHRISTmas, Everybody!

Merry CHRISTmas!! I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! Remember the reason we celebrate Christmas. Isaiah 9:6
